Los Chacayes (Tunuyán, Valle de Uco)
Lurton Piedra Negra
Fundada en 1996
Bodega Piedra Negra, part of the Lurton Group, produces high-altitude wines in Los Chacayes, Uco Valley. Its vineyards, planted on stony, poor soils, yield concentrated yet fresh fruit thanks to the Andean climate. The estate practices sustainable viticulture and carries out precise fermentations in stainless steel, concrete, and oak. Notable wines include Piedra Negra Malbec, Chacayes, Gran Lurton Cabernet Sauvignon, and a pioneering Argentine Pinot Gris, all known for their balance and elegance.
History
François Lurton founded Piedra Negra in 1996, after exploring Mendoza and placing a bold bet on the stony lands of Los Chacayes. He planted his own vines and played a key role in shaping the identity of this now-iconic site within the Uco Valley. With a focus on minimal intervention and organic practices across much of the vineyard, the estate helped pioneer refined styles of Malbec and Cabernet Franc, achieving international recognition for its consistent quality and strong character.
